1994 was Brookside's thirteenth year of production.
Overview[]
Major storylines included Simon Howe and Terry Sullivan's suicide pact, and the failed wedding of Mick Johnson and Marianne Dwyer.
House by House[]
5 Brookside Close[]
The cult moves in. Simon Howe pushes Katie too far and she moves out to the Dixons'. Barry buys the house and tries to evict them, but Simon barricades them in and takes Barry hostage. He then blows up the house, putting himself and Terry in hospital. After his release, he persuades Terry to join him in a suicide bid. Barry finds them and saves Terry's life, but leaves Simon to die.
6 Brookside Close[]
Penny finds out that her late husband had a long-term affair, and seeks solace in a relationship with Barry. David is judgemental about Beth and Margaret's relationship, and is shocked when Jean discloses that she had a female lover in her youth. The Crosbies live separate lives, and David has an affair with Audrey Manners.
7 Brookside Close[]
Patricia finds out the baby she is carrying has Down's syndrome. She and Max discuss termination, but decide against it. Alice is born in August, but Max has difficulty bonding with her.
8 Brookside Close[]
A guilty Jimmy starts a fund for Tony Dixon, but dips into it to fund his drug habit. Tony dies in February, and Jimmy confesses at the funeral. DNA tests show that Josh is Mike's son, and a devastated Ron moves out of the house into the storeroom at the Trading Post. DD offers to make another go of things with Ron and they decide to renew their wedding vows. At the last minute, however, Ron returns to Bev, leaving DD devastated.
9 Brookside Close[]
The Banks arrive, shortly followed by their son Carl, and his wife Sarah. Carl is arrested as an army deserter, but he wants out of the army and his marriage. The Banks' youngest son, Lee, is released from a secure unit where he has been held after crippling a girl in a joy-riding incident. With her family still seeking revenge, attacks escalate until a truce is finally called.
10 Brookside Close[]
A cellmate of Trevor's turns up demanding money. Mandy gives him £700 from the Tony Dixon fund, although Sinbad borrows money from a loan shark to replace it. Margaret and Beth have a short-lived affair before Margaret returns to Bosnia with Derek. Mandy is upset when she finds out that Beth is a lesbian. With her debts escalating, her loan is taken over by Kenny Maguire who offers to accept 'payment in kind' from Mandy. Sinbad buys the house for Mandy, and unsuccessfully tries to pay off Maguire.
Brookside Parade[]
On the morning of Mick and Marianne's wedding day Mick is arrested for an armed robbery which was carried out by Greg Salter from the pizza parlour. Mick forces him to go to the police and confess. But it's too late for him and Marianne - she moves to Glasgow. Grants restaurant opens.

- 7th February - Tony Dixon dies from injuries sustained in a car crash last year, having been in a coma for 13 weeks.
- 10th August - Don McAteer dies from an overdose.
- 19th August - Patricia Farnham gives birth to her and Max Farnham's daughter, Alice.
- 28th October - Simon Howe and Terry Sullivan attempt suicide by locking themselves in a fume filled garage. Barry Grant rescues Terry, but leaves Simon to die. (Final appearance of Simon Howe)
- 16th November - Mick Johnson and Marianne Dwyer's wedding turns out to be a complete failure when the police arrive and arrest them for burglary.
