5 Brookside Close[]
Mick is acquitted of Gladys' murder. He decides that Brookside Comprehensive is failing Leo, and that Gemma will go to private school.
6 Brookside Close[]
David goes out with Ron's ex, Molly Marchbank, and moves to her country estate, Bressingham Hall. Ron moves into the Parade flats where there is an explosion, and the Shadwicks arrive. Jason's girlfriend Katrina tells him she is pregnant and they opt to have a termination. Nikki is raped at a Christmas party when her drink is spiked.
7 Brookside Close[]
Jacqui is pregnant with Max's baby. Max and Susannah get married, and Susannah discovers she too is now pregnant. Jacqui gives birth to Harry in September. Susannah finds out about Max's affair with Faye, which has been going on for 20 years and throws him out. At Christmas, she and Greg Shadwick share a kiss.
8 Brookside Close[]
Sinbad moves in with Carmel, however she is unable to forgive his part in the explosion when Ben finds out his paralysis is permanent. Tinhead swears revenge. Carmel leaves the Close to be near Ben who is moved to a rehabilitation unit. Tinhead tries to run Sinbad over but drives into a lake, leaving Sinbad to save his life. Tinhead moves in with Mick and Leo as the Musgroves arrive.
9 Brookside Close[]
Louise tracks down her father, an animal rights activist Marcus Seddon, who is serving a prison sentence. They spend time together when he is released. Eleanor and Marcus become closer and eventually make love in her office, but she decides to stick with Ollie and they agree to marry. Marcus takes them all hostage on holiday, resulting in a cliff-side tussle that brings about his death. The coroner's verdict is accidental death. Ollie is unable to forgive Eleanor, and he and Danny leave.
10 Brookside Close[]
Gary turns up, and when Lindsey asks for a divorce he demands money and access visits to Kylie. He starts legal proceedings and harasses Lindsey, who, in desperation, threatens him with a gun. Gary backs down and Lindsey gets her divorce. Lindsey and Peter get married. Using forged certificates Jimmy gets onto a teacher training course which he passes, leading to a job at Brookside Comprehensive.
Brookside Parade[]
Ron buys a second-hand cooker from Sinbad and connects it himself, causing a major explosion. Ron finds out he has a daughter, Megan, from his affair with Anthea Brindley 20 years ago. Anthea proposes to Ron. Ron sees Bev shoplifting and persuades Mike to take her in, for Josh's sake. Jacqui has a launch party for the Millennium Club.
