2000 was Brookside's nineteenth year of production.
Overview[]
Major storylines included the departure of the Musgrove family, Callum Finnegan's murders before getting killed by Dave Burns and Tim O'Leary receiving a 9-month prison sentence.
House by House[]
5 Brookside Close[]
Gemma leaves the Close to go to live with Josie. Sinbad starts voluntary work at a school for the deaf but is accused of sexual abuse. He is arrested and is devastated to find out how few people trust him. He is cleared but, disappointed and disillusioned, he leaves the Close. Leo is accepted by the police force.
6 Brookside Close[]
Ray moves in with Jessie, and at Christmas she agrees to marry him. Tim and Emily plan revenge on Susannah and gradually descened into a life of crime, with Tim ending up in prison.
7 Brookside Close[]
Susannah starts affairs with Mick and Darren. Mick asks Susannah to marry him and she accepts, but continues seeing Darren. As Mick and Darren find out about each other, Max argues with Susannah, and in a tussle he pushes her down the stairs to her death. The police conclude it was accidental death and Max moves in. He contemplates suicide but is thwarted by the arrival of Jacqui.
8 Brookside Close[]
Niamh moves the whole family to Ireland and Sinbad lets the house to Mike, Rachel and Katie. Ron leaves Anthea and moves in too. Nathan sacks Katie after a breach of confidence which leads to Katie and Jacqui falling out. Jacqui and Rachel have a hen party in Benidorm where Jacqui meets Robbie Moffat. Rachel and Mike get married at Cuddington Hall, but Nathan stops his ceremony as he doesn't think Jacqui loves him. Robbie arrives in the Parade and Jacqui starts dating him, whilst Katie sees his brother Clint. Mike is in a car crash at Christmas - and is paralysed as a result.
9 Brookside Close[]
The Murrays arrive. Diane and Marty are trying for a baby, and start fertility treatment. In November she has a positive pregnancy test but worries she is losing the baby at Christmas.
10 Brookside Close[]
Jimmy breaks down completely and Jackie agrees to have him sectioned. Shelley breaks with Lindsey, and pursues Jackie. Jackie is terrified that Shelley will tell Lindsey about the night they spent together. Lindsey is shocked when she finds out.
Brookside Parade[]
Bev buys the bar and renames it Bev's Bar. Darren comforts Victoria who feels guilty about Mark's death. He asks her to marry him. Victoria reveals she is pregnant and has an abortion, despite Darren's feelings. She is shocked by his affair with Susannah.

- 5th January - The Musgrove family leave Brookside Close in the dead of the night. (Final appearance of the characters)
- 26th May - Mike Dixon and Rachael Jordache marry.
- 13th June - Callum Finnegan kills his brother Alasdair and Alasdair's wife, Rose, in Portugal.
- 28th June - Callum Finnegan is shot dead by Dave Burns.
- 3rd November - Susannah Farnham dies after being pushed down the stairs by an unknown assailant.
- 10th November - In a flashback, Susannah Farnham's killer is revealed to be her husband, Max Farnham.
- 19th December - Tim O'Leary, Mike Dixon, Clint and Robbie Moffat are involved in a car accident. Mike is badly injured and Clint breaks his arm, but Tim and Robbie flee the scene uninjured.
- 20th December - Tim O'Leary is sentenced to 9-months imprisonment.
